Domaine Daurion is getting used to gold medals for its new range of AOP Languedoc & IGP Pays d'Oc wines. We are once again very proud to have been rewarded by an international competition for one of our most recent 2024 vintages: Le Secret Assemblage ( IGP Rouge).
International Wine Challenge 2025
The International Wine Challenge is a world-class competition held annually in Bordeaux since 1977. Historically, it was one of the very first international competitions to be held in France, and is also one of the most renowned in the world. The competition's expertise and recognition by wine professionals enable producers to promote their wines on both the export and domestic markets.
The competition is open to all wines, spirits, sakes and ciders from around the world, regardless of vintage. In the form of a blind tasting, the jury rewards the finest vintages from here and abroad. In order to bring together the most representative cross-section of the industry possible, jury groups are always divided into 4: a technician, a producer, a distributor and an informed consumer. The panel of tasters thus represents all the different types of buyers and offers a synthesis of taste and consumer trends. In this way, an award brings real added value to each cuvée. Ultimately, each medal becomes a compass for the end customer. All this to facilitate the purchasing process, reassure the consumer and enable the producer to facilitate his commercial development.
This is not the only advantage of the Challenge: each year, a specific wine region or product type is selected to be honored. This selection is based on the latest consumer trends. In this way, the Challenge acts as a revealer of tomorrow's talent.
Secret Assemblage on the podium
Returning to our Secret IGP Pays d'Oc, we're delighted that this blend met with the approval of a jury of professional and amateur experts. Composed of 40% Syrah, 30% Cinsault and 30% Marselan, our cuvée is both supple and powerful. This trio of typical Languedoc grape varieties brings the sunshine and warmth of the South of France. Syrah brings a rich, spicy character, while Cinsault reveals all its sweetness and lightness. Perhaps you're a little less familiar with Marselan? This grape variety has been taking root in Languedoc since 1960, when it was born near . Marseillan, from which it takes its name.
Adorned in its finest vermilion color, Le Secret is the ideal companion for festive evenings. The pleasant notes of wild berries on the palate wander right through the Mediterranean garrigue. A harmonious, well-balanced ensemble that invites you to travel to our beautiful Occitan valleys. Both traditional in conception and modern in taste, it's lightness that prevails on the palate, in the image of our new new IGP Pays d'Oc range.
The origin of the Secret
Like the rest of the IGP range, Secret Assemblage reveals part of Daurion's hidden history. The mystery of this " cuvée mélomane " is rooted in the estate's very first owner: Dom Bedos de Salelles. A famous 18th-century organ builder whose work still serves as a benchmark today, the illustrious music lover is the first known founder and owner of the Domaine de Daurion in Caux. In 1757, he acquired the estate and retreated there to carry out most of his work, which has since been handed down to posterity. In 1763, he began writing a theoretical and practical treatise on organ building, which was to occupy the last years of his life: L'Art du facteur d'orgues L'Art du facteur d'orgues is a monumental work on the French classical organ of the eighteenth century, and still an authority among contemporary organ builders.
A further testimony to Daurion's attachment to his terroir and to the history of Occitanie.
