Challenge Millésime Bio: gold medal for our Secret de Caux Rosé Assemblage

Challenge Millésime Bio: gold medal for our Secret de Caux Rosé Assemblage

Domaine Daurion is proud to announce its first-ever gold medal at the Millésime Bio Challenge !

This international competition rewards the best organic wines. On the occasion of the Millésime Bio trade show in Montpellier, the world's largest gathering of organic winegrowers, this ranking was an opportunity to honor the most accomplished vintages.

Millésime Bio trade fair

The organizer SudVinBio is an association of some 1,100 winegrowers, cooperators and merchants from the Occitanie region, Europe's leading organic region. The Millésime Bio trade show represents some 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world and 9,500 visitors, 20% of whom are from abroad. Above all, it's a not-to-be-missed event for all those involved in the wine industry. International buyers, major catering chains, professionals from the CHR (Café Hôtel & Restaurants) and GD (Grande Distribution) sectors, they all meet in Montpellier every year.

With regard to the organic market in France in 2023, the show highlighted a number of important figures. Sales of organic wine in France, for example, are up both in volume (+3%) and value (+9%). Export sales are also up, both in volume (+ 9%) and value (+ 5%).

Volcanic and organic wines

With each cuvée, the Secrets range reveals a part of the Daurion story. Here, we learn that the estate lies on a lava flow from a very ancient volcano called La Baume, in Caux. This terroir, which is partly basaltic, gives our wines their distinctive character. At Daurion, we produce volcanic and organic wines!

Did you know that there are a very limited number of volcanic terroirs in the world, and that the domaine is lucky enough to have its feet on them? The Vinorabased in Auvergne, specializes in the promotion of French volcanic wines.

AOP Languedoc Pézenas

This unique and precious terroir is enhanced by theAppellation d'Origine Protégée Languedoc-Pézenas. Its distinctive feature is the famous basaltic lava flow, which dates back to the dawn of time and made this wine-growing region one of the first to be exploited in Roman times. Evidence of this can be seen in the many traces of the past found here, as well as in neighboring Saint-Jean de Bébian and La Font des Ormes.

The future flagship of theLanguedoc PDO, this appellation is set to become the next to be officially recognized by the INAO in 2025-2026. Just as Pic-Saint-Loup and Terrasses du Larzac created a buzz by putting Languedoc wines in the spotlight, here's a sneak preview of the appellation's next star. Discover our two cuvées AOP Pézenas 2023 and Vieilles Vignes 2022 on our online boutique.
