A family story
If you're a local, are you familiar with the Daurion vineyard? Nestled in the heart of an ancestral wine-growing region, between Pézenas and Caux, Domaine Daurion has stood the test of time, not without a certain notoriety. The first traces of viticulture date back to Roman times, but it was during the Renaissance that Dom Bedos de Sallès, an organ builder famous throughout the region, was discovered. Domaine Daurion came into being at the end of the 50s, when Henri Collet1st of the name acquired it. A visionary, he was already dreaming of an all-white wine, going against the grain of an era dominated by reds. He planted the very first Chardonnay vines in Languedoc and set about making an effervescent wine inspired by the Champagne method. It was a feat and a challenge that earned him recognition for his expertise in white and sparkling wines. Shortly afterwards, the estate was passed on to his son, Henri Collet second in line to follow in his father's footsteps.
A shift towards biodiversity
In 2010, it was Isabelle Collet-Cordoba's turn to inherit the precious family estate and build its current reputation. The emphasis is on estate bottling and wines with character. Not to mention a tribute to the founding grandfather, a sparkling wine that adds a special sparkle to the range. Aware of tomorrow's challenges and climate change, she obtained organic farming certification for 100% of the estate's 55 hectares. Here again, Daurion is attentive to trends and evolving consumer needs. During this period, Isabelle plays an active role in developing the estate's image. She is present at numerous gatherings around Agde and Pézenas. In fact, as a Caussinard, it's almost certain that you've already come across our wines!
The new face of Daurion, a vineyard committed to Nature
In 2024, wine is no longer consumed as it was in the 60s, and we've taken this on board. So it's time to write a new page for the estate, anchoring it in innovation and commitment.
Commitment to respecting the soil and the vines. Come and take a tour of our vineyards, and you'll see just how dynamic our biodiversity is. Alleys in bloom all year round, green pastures, trees planted to enrich the soil, etc. Innovation, with a new range that's closer to today' s consumer: an alcohol-free sparkling grape juice, a grape beer, a summer rosé at just 10%, more whites and more organics!
In fact, if you'd like to come and take a look around the estate, you'll find a host of changes: modernized infrastructures and a whole new public welcome area planned for 2025. Indeed, this coming year will be all aboutwine tourism, with a vast program to suit all tastes and ages: an Escape Game, a Guinguette all summer long with open-air cinema, concerts and a food truck, tours of the new ageing cellar (don't miss our stone amphorae and our Magic Egg!), tastings of individual parcels in the vineyards or in our takeaway cellar. The latter will open its doors in June 2025, and will be the occasion of a grand inauguration party where everyone will be welcome. For this grand celebration, you'll be able to discover Daurion's new vintages: AOP Languedoc and Pézenas, IGP d'Oc, mono-cépage and our other beverages.
